Conflict of opposites

„In accordance with the healing art doctrine of ancient China, in the human body, as well as in the surrounding nature, there is a constant struggle between the forces which are opposed, but simultaneously are in unity. Good or ill-health is determined by the balance of these opposing forces. The energy of the Universe is manisfested by two polar forces, which are known as Yin and Yang.”

Initially Yin meant Northern, shady, but Yang Southern, sunny mountainside. Yin meant negative, cold, dark and feminine, while Yang represented positive, masculine, light and warm. Just as these two forces are in constant conflict with each other in the Universe, and at the same time they form one whole, so in the human body they symbolize harmony and disharmony. Precisely balanced and equated Yin and Yang elements are indicative of good health, but if the energy is moved excessively  to one of them, this indicates a problem in the human organism. Glut of Yang energy means the excessive organic activity, but, on the contrary, if Yin dominates, it implies the reduced function. Just as the constant interaction of these two opposing forces gives rise to all phenomena in the Universe, such as the change of seasons, the day and the night, so in the human organism it regulates the inhale and the exhale, as well as the state of wakefulness and sleep .

The conclusion is that every ailment affects all the body, because good health means the balanced state of the whole organism.
